Paphiopedilum
These orchids have long, flat strap leaves or short, mottled leaves. They are smaller than their cousins, Phragmipedium.
They can be multiflorals meaning multiple flowers (more than 2) are produced on a spike or a single floral. They lack pseudobulb.
The flowers generally consists of synsepal which is made of lateral sepals. The dorsal are large and showy while the petals may vary in style.
Styles may include round, twisted, and undulate; spots and warts maybe included as well. The pouch looks like a slipper hence their name, slipper orchids.
There are about 60 species. They are found within the Southeast Asia region.
