Genus Description:
The species are either epiphytic or lithophytic.
The orchids in this genus often develop pseudobulbs. There are two types of Dendrobiums found within this genus. You have are hard cane Dendrobiums and your soft cane Dendrobiums.
For hard cane varieties, flowers arise from the top of the canes. Soft cane dendrobiums, flowers arise from the side the canes.

Dendrobiums growing season are from Spring to Fall, where new shoots arise from the base of the plant. During Winter, the plant lies dormant.
